Wane (IN PROGRESS) is my senior thesis capstone project exploring family, folklore, and grief in horrific attempt of resurrection. The project is currently in the post-process.
Synopsis After turning home, Peter cares for her terminally ill mother, Luanne, in her final days. However, despite her warnings, Peter seeks out forbidden magic in the hopes of saving her only to find the horrors his desperation has awaken.
Director's Statement
Incantation and other otherworldly remedies have long been integrated with humanity. While our media often portray these practices as “dark”, it’s important to recognize how it’s been an antidote for many.
For this project, I hope to further my narrative process through objective cinematography and folkloric storytelling. While also emphasizing lighting and world-building through prop design and stylistic/ practical lighting. I hope to create a complex but empathetic look into why we rely on the supernatural and in what ways it both warns and aids us.
